NEW DELHI, Dec 4: Leaders of several parties from the INDIA bloc staged a protest on Parliament premises on Wednesday, calling for a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the recent indictment of Adani Group officials. MPs from Congress, AAP, RJD, Shiv Sena (UBT), DMK, and Left parties raised slogans and held a banner that read “Modi-Adani are one” at Parliament’s Makar Dwar. The TMC did not participate in the protest.

The protest comes in the wake of the indictment of Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani and other company officials by US prosecutors on charges of bribery and fraud. The opposition parties have been demanding a JPC investigation, with Congress claiming that the indictment “vindicates” their call for an inquiry into alleged scams involving the Adani conglomerate.

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, did not attend the protest, as he had left for Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh to visit areas affected by recent violence, along with a Congress delegation.

On Tuesday, the Lok Sabha Secretariat issued an advisory urging MPs not to hold protests at Parliament gates, citing concerns over safety and security. Opposition MPs had protested at the same location on Tuesday as well.

The Adani Group has dismissed all allegations as “baseless,” while the opposition continues to press for a parliamentary investigation into the matter.
