IGP, CRPF backs Army chief's statement

AV Chauhan backed Army Chief's statement on tough action against stone
pelters for creating hurdles during anti-terror operations in Kashmir
Valley.
“Whatever the Army Chief has said, he has said that in national
interest. There is no need to misinterpret it. There is nothing wrong
in the army chief's statement,” AV Chauhan said at Doda in his maiden
visit after joined as IGP, Jammu Sector.
General Rawat's statement came a day after four army personnel,
including a Major, were killed in two separate encounters in the
Kashmir Valley.
“What kind of treatment you give to those who are providing safe
passage or shelter to established terrorists equipped with weapons
during anti militancy operating by forces. Those providing shelter or
safe passage to terrorists are doing absolutely wrong and will be
treated firmly, but according to law.” the office said.
On upcoming Panchyat election in the state, the officer said, “Our
forces are working in UP and few other states for conducting peaceful
elections, but we are ready to give our services in upcoming Panchayat
elections in Jammu and Kashmir as well.”
He also asked officer and jawans to remain alert owing to prevailing
situation in the state.
Earlier, this morning IGP was received and accorded a warm welcome at
Dak Bungalow, Doda on his arrival by Bajrang Lal, Commandant (AOD),
K.L Dhiman, 2-I/C 76 Battalion and SSP Doda, Z.N Manhas.
Chauhan during his visit to Doda and Bhaderwah took meetings with
Jawans and of officer in 76 Battalion headquarters and applauded the
dedicated duties being performed by them.
He directed them to remain alert on duty owing to prevailing situation
in Jammu and Kashmir especially ahead of challenging duties of
Panchyat election in the state in next month.
Chauhan visited State Motor Garage E-76, and 76 Battalion headquarter
at Beoli to take stock of deployment, duties and the basic
infrastructure. He checked foods being provided to jawans and their
accommodation.
