    Heavy Rain, Flash Flood Alert Issued for J&K

    Srinagar, Aug 18: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Sunday issued an advisory predicting heavy rainfall and possible flash floods in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir over the next few days.

    According to the forecast, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected on August 18–19, with intense showers likely in Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Samba, and Kathua. Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, and parts of Kashmir Division may also experience moderate to heavy rainfall with gusty winds.

    The department cautioned of cloudbursts, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas during August 18–19 and again from August 23–25. Authorities have been asked to remain alert, while people have been advised to avoid rivers, streams, and kachha houses, and exercise extreme caution while traveling in hilly terrain.

    From August 20–22, the weather is expected to turn generally hot and humid with only brief thunderstorms, though isolated heavy rain is possible in Jammu, Kathua, and Samba on the night of August 22.
