    Govt Should Come Clear

Whether J&K’s Reasi District possessed one of the world’s largest known Lithium reserves has become one of the questions especially for the people living in the region as reportedly opposition party Congress has raised the issue citing Modi government’s fresh directives to re-explore the possibility.

The issue once again came to fore after Congress General Secretary Incharge Communications Jairam Ramesh raised the issue about the government led by PM Narendra Modi  reportedly asking to conduct a re-exploration of the Lithium reserves discovered in Jammu and Kashmir. As the question has been raised publically, there is little scope about facts and figures highlighted by the Congress leader going wrong in this matter.

It is pertinent to mention that people in J&K were rejoiced after they knew about the huge reservoir of Lithium in Reasi District as the news which broke out in the second week of February 2023 was ‘unbelievable’ but true as the source was Modi Government.

What is intriguing now is the fact that the same government has asked for a re-exploration of the aforesaid reservoir genuinely raising doubts over the report which was made public earlier in 2023 and astonishingly the tenders were also invited for excavating the mineral, though the same were cancelled due to poor response.

The way the opposition party is exposing the issue is quite understandable because besides taking advantage of the loopholes in handling the issue by the government, it is also trying to exaggerate  things which to some extend is justifiable also, looking at the prevailing political scenario in the country, where Congress, BJP, AAP and all other political entities are behaving more or less same while dealing similar situation as no party in the country today shirk to stoop low for getting political advantage.

It is therefore advisable for the Modi Government to come clear on the issue and make public the reasons behind this move to re-explore things in Reasi despite announcing the big catch in February 2023 because until a clarification comes directly from horse’s mouth, the opposition will keep on raising the issue again and again.
