Jammu and Kashmir show a drastic change in its political environment where women have stated to assume important position in the current elections, where the women participated with 70.02% in final phase of elections. It was a huge surge as compared to the last elections. Thisscenario is not confined only to election campaigns but alsowomen are now more aware of their education, family welfare, social justice, healthcare and so on. This has happened due to active participation of women representatives like Saima Jan from Anantnag and Shagun Parihar from infamous Kishtwar. The achievements of these women will definitely inspire future generations, encouraging more women to take up leadership responsibilities.

As the 2024 assembly elections approach, one thing is certain: women are no longer on the margins of politics in Jammu and Kashmir they are now taking stands on their account whether its political social or economical sphere in all fields women are now stated to getting empowered but this surge in participation is not the destiny that the women need there are still lot of gaps and challenges.

Historically also the state of Jammu and Kashmir has Patriarchal norms and that traditional gender roles often limit women’s access to education, employment, and decision-making, these societal expectations can limit the progress of women in the long run. Also, Domestic violence, sexual harassment, and other forms of violence are prevalent in the state however the changing trends in condition of women is exceptional.

Empowering women not only benefits individuals but also strengthens the entire community, paving the way for a more equitable and resilient society and this can be done through Collaborative efforts involving government, NGOs, and local communities are crucial to creating a supportive environment where women can thrive, contribute to society, and enjoy their rights fully.
