    Duo from Punjab posing as fake police officers held in Srinagar

    Srinagar, Aug 8: Two residents of , who were posing as fake police officers, were arrested in Srinagar City late Wednesday night, officials said here.

    An official said that two residents of Punjab were arrested in Srinagar city for impersonating police officers.

    He added that the duo was identified as Karanvir Sharma, alias Raninder Pratap Singh, son of Atal Sharma, a resident of Kaddan Tehsil Payal, Ludhiana Punjab, and was impersonating a fake DySP, while the second person was identified as Ravinder Singh, son of Late Sardar Lakhvir Singh, a resident of Bhangar Tehsil, Ferozpur Punjab.

    He added that the duo was found roaming in Nehru Park, Srinagar, in a white Fortuner bearing registration number PB77-8925 with red lights (siren).

    Moreover, police launched an investigation while a case has also been registered under FIR number 98/2024 under section 319(2), 49, 205 BNS in this regard.
