SRINAGAR, Dec 10: In a major move against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police on Tuesday attached a residential property worth ₹50 lakhs belonging to notorious drug peddler Gh Hassan Bandro, alias Qasim, a resident of Sotkipora. This action was taken by Police Station Srigufwara as part of an ongoing intensified campaign to combat the drug menace in the region.
Qasim, son of Wali Mohammad, is a habitual offender with multiple cases registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. His involvement in illegal drug trafficking is documented in several cases, including FIR Nos. 04/2014 and 74/2021 at Police Station Srigufwara.
Police officials stated that the property attachment is a clear message to those involved in the illegal drug trade that such activities will not be tolerated. The move is part of the police’s strategy to dismantle drug trafficking networks by targeting their financial resources and operational bases.
Anantnag Police have reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug problem and urged the public to share any information related to drug trafficking. They called for greater cooperation from citizens in building a drug-free society and ensuring community safety.
