Jammu Tawi, Aug 20: Within hours of crime, Jammu Police on Friday cracked the double murder case and arrested the accused person in Gandhi Nagar area here.
Police spokesman said that an information was received at Police Station Gandhi Nagar one person namely Popinder Singh of Akali Kour Singh Nagar, Jammu along accompanied by some others, barged into the house of one Rajinder Singh and attacked him, his wife Shakuntla Kour and their son, Amandeep Singh with sharp edged weapons.
“The injured persons were rushed to the hospital where Shakuntla Kour and his son Amandeep Singh, succumbed,” police said.
They said that a case was registered under relevant sections and the investigation was taken up.
“Special police teams were constituted and an investigation was started. Based on technical assistance and analysis of CCTV footage along with interlinking of circumstantial evidence, the police team finally arrested the accused namely Popinder Singh, who confessed his crime,” the spokesman said.
He added that the prime accused has been identified as father in law of the victim and an investigation process is underway to ascertain the cause which resulted in this extreme situation. “Wife of the accused and his daughters stand detained,” police said. (UNI)
