Do everything to prevent Nanded like tragedy!

Date:

The people across the country are in a state of anger, pain and shock after knowing that in the last couple of days a total of several people have died in two Maharashtra government hospitals with concerned officials of the hospitals giving alibis like shortage of beds, medicines and other necessary entities.

Considering the poor state of healthcare affairs in the State which also is the home for the financial capital of the country, Mumbai, also known as city of dreams/ Mayanagri, it becomes imperative for all other states and UTs to go for a quick audit of their healthcare infrastructure and human resources in hospitals as what has happened in Maharashtra's Dr Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College and Hospital in Nanded and a government-run hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in a 24-hour period can also be the fate of any other healthcare facility across the country if the stakeholders will not take adequate steps to ensure failsafe medical care.

Pertinent to mention here that a total of 31 people including 12 infants, suffering from different ailments, were died in the Dr Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College and Hospital Nanded in 48 hours while the family members of the deceased alleged that a lack of medical facilities and inadequate treatment led to the deaths. As per the reports coming in media, the condition of about 70 more adult patients admitted to the hospital remain critical.

It is shocking that so many patients have lost the battle for life in a state like Maharashtra, which is famous for its healthcare set-up as people from across the country reach various hospitals in its cities with a hope to get better healthcare facilities. As the state like Maharashtra, which is considered as one of the most developed states in the country has been facing healthcare crisis of such a magnitude, it becomes imperative for the place like Union Territory of and , which faced decades of neglect and negligence as far as healthcare services are concerned, to go for the complete healthcare audits to ensure that nothing like Maharashtra state should happen in the region.

Although still the situation in Maharashtra's aforesaid hospitals is not clear as alibis given by the officials like shortage of medicines or beds seems to be an attempt to cover up the reason behind things going haywire.

It is pertinent to mention that conducting audits in healthcare facilities can help improve the quality of medical care and ensure that standards are met. However, whether it is necessary for all healthcare facilities in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) to undergo audits would depend on various factors, including the existing regulatory framework, resources available, and the specific healthcare needs of the region.

It's important for healthcare authorities to assess the situation and prioritize audits where they are most needed to ensure exemplary medical care and stop tragedies like the one which struck Nanded and other hospitals in Maharashtra State.
