Dimple leads protest against rising unemployment in J&K

Jammu Tawi: Sunil Dimple, president of Mission Statehood Jammu Kashmir, led a strong protest rally in Jammu today, demanding action to address rising unemployment and alleged discrimination in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh after the abrogation of Article 370. The rally, which took place on Amphalla Janipur High Court Road, saw leaders from all three regions of the former state joining in the call for the restoration of  statehood.

Dimple criticized the government for its failure to address unemployment, claiming that the government has shown preferential treatment to Ladakh by raising the salaries of daily wagers there from Rs 29,000 to Rs 45,000 per month. He alleged that no such benefits had been extended to Jammu and Kashmir, despite similar challenges.

The protest also demanded a salary hike and regularization for various workers in Jammu and Kashmir, including vocational trainers, SPOs, and other daily wagers, urging that their wages be aligned with those in Ladakh. Dimple also called for the filling of vacant government positions and the advertisement of JKSSB posts, noting that Jammu and Kashmir has the highest unemployment rate in India, standing at 42%.

Additionally, Dimple demanded the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly pass a bill to ban liquor sales and restart the Darbar Move. He urged the Prime Minister and Home Minister to fulfill their promises regarding the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. The protest ended with a firm pledge to continue fighting for the region’s rights.
