Northlines Correspondent | Jammu Tawi, April 29: The delay in announcement of the new office timings in summer zone of Jammu Division has caused uncertainty among the office goers and people in general as by this time usually the official notification introducing new office time often hits the news.
Sources said that Jammu and Kashmir Administration has not issued any communication regarding the change in new office timing for the summer zone due to its dilemma over an entirely unprecedented new situation of all pervasive Covid-19 pandemic in the Union Territory. Sources said that the hands of the administration were fully occupied in effectively fighting full blown multi-faceted battle with Corona Virus in Jammu and Kashmir and for such reasons the civil secretariat could not be fully moved to Srinagar as usual.
“Normally, the change in the office timings for government offices and education institutions actually meant for summer zone in Jammu division would come into force from May 1st every year and it does not apply to Move Offices functional within civil secretariat and in field operations,” the source said.
Since the civil secretariat is still functioning in Jammu and its office timing is 10.00 AM to 5.30 PM and in lieu of which these offices observe five days a week work time so there could be a mismatch within the Move and Non-move government offices, thus the dilemma.
A senior official in the secretariat on condition of anonymity said, the predicament on the issue will be over within a day or so as the Administration has been seriously working on the issue.
Interestingly, the absence of any such notification has caused worry to the people of Jammu Division as the erstwhile state Government under the Governor had issued an order last year reversing the status quo on change in office timing. J&K GAD on April 30, 2019 had issued an order, “There shall be no change in the office timings in summer zone in Jammu Division as well.”
