Jammu Tawi, March 27: Family members of the Dhangri terror attack victims threatened to leave their village for a “safer” location and return the ex-gratia money if the government failed to apprehend and prosecute the attackers.
Terrorists attacked Dhangri village in Jammu Kashmir's Rajouri district on January 1, targeting villagers before fleeing.
While five people were killed by terrorist fire, two more were killed the next morning by an IED explosion. The twin attacks injured as many as 14 villagers.
The attackers are still on the loose.
Saroj Bala, who lost two sons in the terrorist attack, said the government should “shoot me dead too” if it cannot provide her with justice.
“We don't require jobs. We don't require any funds. We need justice by prosecuting terrorists and their supporters. If they do not address our concerns, we will all leave (Dhangri),” she told reporters in Rajouri.
Bala, flanked by a large number of villagers, stated that despite the fact that 90 days had passed since the heinous attack, the terrorists involved had not been found.
“So far, we have received no information about the progress of the case or the terrorists involved in the attack,” she said.
Bala expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and J-K BJP for the support. However, the J&K DGP stated that the attackers were Pakistani terrorists who had returned after the killings.
“How is that possible?” My son was shot between 18 and 20 times. Terrorists from across the border would kill a person with a single or twin shot, so why were so many bullets fired? “They (attackers) killed people after checking their identification,” Bala explained.
“Even if that's true, what about those who assisted them in infiltrating, guided them, and provided food and shelter here?” she wondered.
“In order to avoid responsibility, the administration transferred the SSP and the SHO investigating the case,” Bala explained.
Dilbag Singh, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, said on Thursday that terrorists infiltrated from Pakistan and killed innocent people in Dhangri village.
Dhangri village sarpanch Deeraj Kumar stated that if the victims' families do not require jobs or ex-gratia, the money will be returned to the same account from which it was credited if justice is not provided to the families.
