And arrogance goes on….!

Date:

The aggressive reaction by Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Vadra and the Congress party against the Conviction of Rahul and his subsequent disqualification from the Parliament seems unprecedented compared to similar events in the past. It can happen in this country because the person at the centrestage bears the name of Gandhi.

The way the situation has been handled in the past two days by Rahul and his party speaks volumes of their intolerance for such political upheaval that does not yell with a mature leadership. Had Rahul and Priayka conducted in some composed manner over the incident, the political benefits would have been more. If you're composed, that means you're free of emotion or nervousness — or at least you look that way.

Anger always begets inappropriate actions. Rahul Gandhi has again created another avoidable controversy by raking the name of Vinayak Savarkar in contempt thus offending one of their allies Shiv Sena and millions of Savarkar's followers. What was the need of naming Savarkar in his reaction? He would have simply said I won't apologize. Thats it. What extra political dividend it accrued using the name of Savarkar. Simply nothing!

Rahul Gandhi miscalculated that his conviction in a case would help him regain his political position. He believes that the sympathy will lead to his election victory. He believes the Congress party will win a large mandate. Rahul expected the sympathy to spark a mass movement in his favour. All bellied, because those who sympathise with him do so for his conviction, not for his election. They want leadership, as well as a mature politician who understands the country's .

People regard the disqualification as one mandated by the law and the constitution. They find no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of the government. Rahul blaming Modi for his current situation does not sit well with the public.

People also hold Rahul responsible for his current situation, as he is the one who tore the ordinance passed by the cabinet under Manmohan Singh. People believe that ‘karma' has arrived to exact its revenge on Rahul. People have seen his arrogance when he refused to apologise and leave this awkward position, and their sympathy is not turning into a mass wave of support for him.

The immediate fall-out – Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, the former Maharashtra Chief Minister was forced to warn the Congress of the consequences of demeaning Vinayak Veer Savarkar for the Maha Vikas Aghadi, a constituent of which is the Congress is a constituent.

Certainly, when Kharge cannot guarantee an end to the Congress party's all-powerful Gandhi's Savarkar-baiting; whose oft-repeated Savarkar remarks have become an embarrassment for Uddhav Thackeray to dismiss or defend. Especially, when the remarks are made by Rahul at the centre of the country's current political turmoil it would be hard for Thackeray to defend his irresponsible uttering in his home ground -“My name is not Savarkar, and I will not apologise.” Still there is no guarantee, because this man not only does not apologize, but he makes it a point to broadcast it to the entire that has invited huge criticism.
