Delhi Blast: J&K Police Seek Interpol Red Corner Notice for Kashmir Doctor

SRINAGAR, Nov 13: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have approached Interpol to issue a Red Corner Notice against Qazigund-based Dr. Muzaffar, who is wanted in connection with the interstate ‘white-collar’ terror module busted earlier this week, officials said on Thursday.

Dr. Muzaffar is the brother of Dr. Adeel, one of the eight people — including three doctors — arrested in the case linked to the Red Fort car blast that killed 13 people on Monday. Of those arrested, seven hail from Kashmir. His name surfaced during the interrogation of the accused, officials said.

Investigators revealed that Dr. Muzaffar was part of a doctors’ delegation that visited Turkiye in 2021 along with Muzammil Ganaie and Umar Nabi, the man who drove the explosives-laden car that detonated near the Red Fort.

Police launched efforts to track him but discovered that he left India for Dubai in August and is now believed to be in Afghanistan. The three doctors reportedly stayed in Turkiye for 21 days.

Meanwhile, Turkiye’s Directorate of Communications Centre for Countering Disinformation issued a statement denying allegations that its territory was being used for radicalisation.

“The media reports linking Turkiye to terrorist acts in India and claiming it provides logistical or financial support to terrorist groups are part of a malicious disinformation campaign aimed at harming bilateral ties,” the statement said, adding that such claims “lack any factual basis.” (Agencies)
