Indu Kanwal Chib, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, today released Rs. 1,25,95,000 as the second installment of COVID relief of Rs. 1000 for 12595 active registered construction employees. DBT was used to distribute the funds to registered workers.
The Jammu and Kashmir Government, on the orders of LG, had decided to pay Rs 2000 each to registered construction workers in two instalments in the month of May and June 2021 to provide them with some succour in absence of work amid the COVID restrictions.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur said that the first instalment of COVID relief has already been disbursed by the Labour Department in the month of May, 2021 through DBT.
In addition to the above, an amount of Rs. 2,05,000/- on account of death assistance was also released in favour of Guddi Devi(dependent) W/O Late Kaku Ram registered worker R/o Village Badhole Tehsil Ramnagar .
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur emphasized on generating mass awareness among the construction workers about various schemes being implemented by the labour department in the district so that they can avail maximum benefits of various welfare schemes.
Assistant Labour Commissioner, Pradyot Gupta informed that the financial assistance has been provided by the Labour Department under Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB) schemes.
