Comedian Jamie Lever opens up about her bond with legendary actor-comedian father Johnny Lever
It's no secret that legendary Bollywood comedian Johnny Lever was often busy with back-to-back shoots during the peak of his illustrious career. In a recent interview, his daughter and budding comedian Jamie Lever has now opened up about how this impacted their father-daughter relationship during her childhood years.
Jamie revealed that with her father constantly on film sets delivering one hilarious performance after another, he wasn't able to spend dedicated quality time with her and brother Jesse while they were growing up. Things like school drop-offs, regular home-cooked dinners together, and causal chats about their day-to-day lives weren't really a part of their dynamic when they were younger.
Both Jamie and Jesse felt the absence of their famous father while being raised primarily by their mother. However, they were surrounded by a loving extended family network of aunts, uncles and cousins who helped fill that void. Johnny also tried his best to make it up to them by showering gifts and affection during his occasional home visits between hectic schedules.
It was only during their college years that Johnny realized the importance of being more present and made an effort to ease up on work. He became choosier about projects and ensured spending breakfast bonding sessions with his children, regaling them stories from his iconic career.
Though late blooming, Jamie is glad to have developed a special father-daughter relationship with her role model now. She recently stepped into the entertainment world herself with the Telugu movie Aa Okkati Adakku.
