Srinagar, Apr 25: The Economic Offences Wing has filed a chargesheet in a major recruitment fraud in the Power Development Department, accusing multiple individuals of securing government jobs through forged documents.
The chargesheet in FIR No. 46/2023 was submitted before the Anti-Corruption Court, Baramulla, against Nasir Ahmad Mir, Mushtaq Ahmad Malik and a deceased former Executive Engineer of KPDCL.
The case originated from a complaint alleging fraudulent appointments. Investigations revealed that Nasir Ahmad Mir obtained employment using a fake appointment order under SRO-43 of 1994, which was not found in official records.
Further probe showed that Mushtaq Ahmad Malik allegedly prepared a forged service book to support the fake appointment. Forensic analysis confirmed the entries were authored and signed by him, with no official records validating the appointment.
Verification by revenue authorities established that Mir was ineligible under SRO-43 norms. Despite this, salary was released in 2009 without proper verification by the then Executive Engineer.
Officials said the investigation established offences including cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy under relevant sections of law, along with provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The chargesheet has been filed for judicial consideration.
