Cancellation Of Examinations

Date:

Omkar Dattatray

All most all the states of the Indian union have cancelled the board examinations. Not only the states of have cancelled the board examinations but the centre government has also cancelled the central board examination. In fact the states have taken a  cue from the CBSEs decision and have cancelled the class 10th and class 12th Board examinations. The cancellation has been ordered due to the emergency of the coronavirus. The government cannot risk the precious lives of the students and has thus cancelled the board examinations. It is not a routine decision but rare of the rarest  decision. The cancellation of the board examinations have killed the initiative and morale of the students. All the students have been promoted to the next class and thus every Tom, Dick And Harry have been declared as having passed and the cancellation has affected the assessment of the students very badly .There is no alternative of the examinations and the examinations have to be conducted but the centre and state governments have been forced to order the cancellation of the board examinations is not a good sign of the vibrant system but the government had to cancel the examinations because of the impending danger to the life of the student community. Since the examinations have been cancelled the government should seek some other means of assessing the intelligence of the affected students so that the cancellation will not affect the studies of the students. Since the deadly coronavirus has affected the normal studies of the students as the examinations have been cancelled .However the government has done well to have implemented the online classes of the students to compensate the off line classes and this measure of the government has been appreciated by the people in general .As the examinations have been cancelled the authorities should devise some other means of assessing of the students and this will compensate the cancellation of the examinations. Since class 12th is the terminal class and  the students after passing of the examination choose the medical and engineering courses and thus the 12th class examination is more important and thus the powers cannot be mute spectators to the  cancellation spree and they should explore some measure of assessing the intelligence of the students and thus the bad effects on the studies of the students can be indemnified by some other means than the normal examinations as it is not desirable to conduct the routine board examinations due to the threat of the coronavirus to the lives of the students. Because the lives of the students can not be risked and as such the powers have cancelled the board examinations. But it should not become a routine affair but it should be taken recourse in very rare circumstances. The powers have thought it well to order the cancellations of the board examinations and the decision has affected the hardworking students and their abilities and it should not have happened but for the danger of the deadly coronavirus. As the government has under tremendous pressure of the coronavirus cancelled the board examinations and thus the student community has suffered badly due to this unprecedented situation. Now that the examinations have been cancelled the morale ,initiative and zest and zeal of the students has been affected by the decision of the powers. So some alternative to the routine examinations should be devised so that the studies of the students can not be affected. Thus other means of the students assessment should be devised by the authorities which can compensate the cancellation of the examinations and then and then only the decision of cancellation of the examinations will be appreciated otherwise not. In fact the powers should embark on some other means of the assessment of the students no doubt with the due consultation with the top educationists of the country. Such means of the assessment of the students should be rational, feasible  and practical so that it can be put to use in this rare situation created by the danger of the coronavirus. Since the examinations of the board have been cancelled we students should be ready to offer ourselves to be assessed by any other suitable measure of assessment which will be an alternative to the examinations and this is not an easy task but a challenging job for the concerned planners .Therefore after well thought and after weighing the pros and cones of the new assessment system it should be implemented by the authorities. Since mass promotion is not the answer but the authorities were forced to order mass promotions so that the studies of the students can not be affected due to the closure of the educational institutes .Thus some means of the students assessment should be found out to assess the students worth so that their initiative and morale will not be affected in anyway. Therefore the authorities should see to it that the students should be assessed and promoted to next class after the assessment which can be an alternative to the examinations and in this lies the good of the student community and their time and hard work will not go astray .
