BJP MLC terms Ministers claims ‘white lies' in Upper House

Tawi, January 11: The Upper House of Jammu Legislature today witnessed heated arguments today over health infrastructure and availability of medicines in the state when besides opposition members, treasury bench member Ramesh Arora countered the claims of Health Minister Bali Bhagat when he was answering questions raised by the former.

The argument broke out when MLC Ramesh Arora termed the answers no more than “white lies” and snubbed his own minister with harsh remarks, which were later expunged.

“Please do not use such words. I am ready to answer but no such words should be used,” the minister said.

Before the argument broke out, in his reply to questions by the MLC, Bhagat said under the free-drug policy 68 drugs are to be provided at district and sub-district hospitals, 53 PHCs and 23 sub-centers.

He said efforts are being made to achieve the target in the current fiscal and assured the House that 100 per cent implementation of the policy would be ensured from April, for which advance steps have been taken.

There are reports that the functioning of the Health Minister, Mr. Bali Bhagat has been satisfactory and the matter was even discussed by the Chief Minister with BJP top leaders at New Delhi. Pertinently, the Minister has been facing various controversies since he assumed the charge of the Health department and its poor functioning.
