BJP MLAs take on Govt over ‘selective’ development

Srinagar: The legislators of BJP Thursday created ruckus in the Legislative Assembly accusing the government of developing their particular constituencies.
Not satisfied with the response of the Deputy Speaker over the establishment of stadium in Kathua, MLA-Rajiv Jasrotia stood from his seat and lashed out at government for “failing” to establish a sports stadium in his area. He was joined by other BJP lawmakers. A few of them even staged walk out from the house.
Udhampur's Independent MLA and former MoS Finance, Pawan Kumar Gupta walked in to well along with Rajiv Jasrotia and raised anti-government slogans. He was supported by NC, Congress lawmakers.
Congress leader Vikar Rasool while joining the protest said, “Today it is clear now as how has been denied its due rights.”
Jasrotia even said that he was assured in DDB and other meetings but “nothing happened on ground”. “Should I bring privilege motion,” he said.
Meanwhile, adding fuel to the ruckus, lawmakers of Conference and Congress lambasted at the state government of ‘selling out Jammu'.
“When BJP was in opposition, they kept on ranting that Jammu has been discriminated. Now they are in power but they are not doing anything concerning development of the region, which makes it evident that they were making hollow slogans,” Vikar Rasool said, “they have sold Jammu and aspiration of its people.”
Deputy Chief Minister while responding to the concerns said that his government will Union government for funds. “We will make a comprehensive policy,” he said while assuring his and opposition members that PDP-BJP government will do the work.
“Give us time,” he told the house, “it is not possible to do everything in only one year. This state has been marred with mis-governance of past 67 years, so it is not possible to bring changes overnight”
However, Government's response did not satisfy Kathua lawmaker. He later staged walk out to the much excitement of Opposition lawmakers.
