According to a police statement, the demolition drive focused on properties illegally constructed on state land under Khasra No. 319 (min) of estate Sangam. These structures, operating as roadside eateries (dabbas/restaurants), were found to be linked to persons involved in narcotics-related offences.

Among the demolished establishments was “Kashmir Restaurant (Dabba),” owned by Gul Mohammad Mir and Bashir Ahmad Mir, residents of Donipora Sangam. Gul Mohammad Mir is named in FIR No. 232/2011 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Bijbehara, while Bashir Ahmad Mir is involved in FIR Nos. 191/2020 under Section 8/20 and 213/2024 under Sections 8/15, 29 of the NDPS Act.

Another structure, “Taj Restaurant (Dabba),” on the same land belonged to Mohammad Maqbool Mir and his sons Aijaz Ahmad and Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Mir, also residents of Donipora Sangam. They are accused in FIR No. 188/2021 under Sections 8/15 and 29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bijbehara.

Additionally, a third structure, “MIR Restaurant,” owned by their brother Amma Mir and located between the two establishments, was also demolished during the operation.

Police said all structures were illegally erected on state land without authorization and were removed following due legal procedures, reaffirming strict action against drug peddlers and unlawful encroachments.

Anantnag Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against the drug menace and urged the public to share information regarding drug trafficking and other illegal activities. (KNC)
