Jammu Tawi, July 14: A Jammu Court refused to stay the Jammu City & District Badminton Tournament being held at M.A. Stadium Jammu from July 12-16, 2023 under a newly installed team in view of the forthcoming State Badminton Championship scheduled to be held in the first week of August 2023.
An application was moved by one Sat Pal Sharma pleading to the court to stay the JCDBA Tournament on the ground that the newly installed body of JCDBA is questionable as the same has not been elected as per the norms of JCDBA thus cannot hold the tournament.
The counter-pleas of the new team of JCDB Association that the players have enthusiastically gathered for participation in the Tournament and the selected players will be taking part in the upcoming State Badminton Championship in the first week of August, in such urgency, any disturbance caused to the process would jeopardize the interests of players and the game of Badminton.
Considering the pleas put forth, the Court of Special Mobile Magistrate, Passenger Tax & Shops Estt Act, in its order said that ‘Keeping in view the fact, that the State Level Championship is going to be held in the first week of August, it will not be prudent to stay the championship to be conducted by Jammu City & District Badminton Association Jammu but it is hereby made clear that conducting of the championship shall not confer any legitimacy to the so-called Elected Committee/Executive Members.
The case is listed for 22.07.2023 for the next hearing with the directions to the new JCDBA body to file objections before the date positively.
