Srinagar, Jul 3: A 40-year-old Amarnath Yatra pilgrim from Punjab was found dead at a hotel in the Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district on Friday, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Narinder Kumar, son of Parminder Kumar, a resident of Barnala district in Punjab. He was staying at a hotel in Sonamarg when he was found unconscious, officials said.
The body was shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Sonamarg, for medico-legal formalities.
Police have initiated inquest proceedings under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to ascertain the cause of death.
