Agenda of Alliance key to political stability in J&K

, Feb 13 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reiterated its resolve to ensure early implementation of Agenda of Alliance (AoA), which it said stands guarantee to political stability in the state and meeting the aspirations of its people. Party also resolved to work for equitable development, women empowerment and adequate space for youth in realizing the goal of an ideal State.

In a state level meeting, presided by Party Vice President Sartaj Madani, the participants expressed confidence that it will overcome odds through public participation in tune with party's established traditions.

According to a statement issued to KNS, addressing delegates including Ministers, office bearers, legislators, senior party leaders Muzzafer Hussain Baig said that Mehbooba Mufti looks after progress of AoA herself and recent meeting with prime minister is manifest of sincerity of both partners in State government to meet the genuine concerns of the state's people as promised. He referred to generous funding for two tunnels released by Union Govt as honest beginning for people friendly approach of the union Government.

Baig said that Mehbooba Mufti pursues AoA and BJP also sees this as an opportunity to raise its stock in a Muslim majority state.

Baig said that PDP has changed the political discourse in the state and feels that the state cannot progress and will not have peace without good relations with and Pakistan. He hoped that good days of Indo-Pak bonhomie will be revived as both countries have stake in peace.

Party Vice President Sartaj Madani was felicitated by party leaders on the occasion for, leading the party as vice president.

In his maiden address at state level meeting, he struck an emotional chord with the participants- the legacy of party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. He said that PDP has not to reframe a road map for shaping the destiny of the State's, people after one set by the visionary leader Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at the formation of the party.

Madani referred to change of atmosphere in the state from 2002 to 2005 and described this period as a leap out from darkness to light and hope from dismay.

He said this positive shift was only possible when New Delhi was made to realize the importance of sensitive issues for peace in the region. He said trade with Pakistan, opening of routes and revival of dialogue and reconciliation was and will remain key to a meaningful change in the state.

Madani asked party leaders and its cadre to take to grass root the positive message and gains possible in following Mufti's mission of peace. He urged youth, the promise of future to cooperate in taking the state out of morass through peaceful means and hoped that sincere approach of Mehbooba- led government will get an acknowledgement sooner or later.

Ministers Abdul Rehman Veeri, Naeen Akhtar, Abdul Haq Khan, senior leaders and PAC members Dilawar Mir, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain and general Secretaries Nizamdin Bhat and Ved Mahajan also addressed the meeting.

The participants including legislatures and district presidents expressed their views on the political situation, AOA and party affairs which was the party's set agenda for the meeting, first after the party's reconstitution by party president Mehbooba Mufti. (KNS)
