A pacemaker is required when the heart’s natural electrical system malfunctions, causing it to beat too slowly (bradycardia), irregularly, or ineffectively. The device (pacemaker) sends tiny electrical impulses to prompt the heart to beat at a steady, normal pace
A heart stent is required when plaque significantly narrows or completely blocks your coronary arteries, restricting blood flow to the heart muscle. Doctors typically recommend a stent during a heart attack, or to relieve severe, persistent chest pain (angina) when medications and lifestyle changes are not enough.
