Top leaders also busy in elections to 4 States, UT

Jammu Tawi, Mar 19: It is most likely that the major part of the second half of the Assembly session of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) may be conducted without the participation of the Leader of Opposition (LoP) and also some other BJP MLAs in the House proceedings.
The nine day second half of the J&K Assembly session of J&K Assembly is scheduled to begin from 27th of this month and will culminate on 4th of April i.e next month.
Many top leaders of the J&K BJP, including the office bearers, the General Secretaries, will also not be here in J&K during the second half of the Assembly session as the party high command has assigned them different assignments in the four election bound States and the one Union Territory.
Reliable sources in the BJP informed that the BJP high command has allotted different assignments to the top J&K BJP leaders, some MLAs, and also to the LOP, Sunil Sharma, for campaigning and also looking into other election related activities in the four election bound States and one UT.
The LoP, Sunil Sharma has been appointed as Co-incharge of the Assam Assembly elections, while some BJP MLAs and top leaders of J&K BJP have also been assigned different duties in the four election bound States and the UT of Pudducherry.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on March 15 announced the schedule for Assembly elections in four States and one Union Territory i.e West Bengal (April 23 and 29), Tamil Nadu (April 23), Kerala (April 9), Assam (April 9), and Puducherry (April 9). Counting for all of them is on May 4.
In the given scenario, the uncertainty prevails over the participation of the Leader of Opposition (LoP), Sunil Sharma, and some BJP MLAs in the second half of the Assembly session beginning from 27th of this month.
Assam and West Bengal hold key to the BJP and it has been mainly focusing on these 2 States and the LoP and many senior J&K BJP leaders have been camping in these 2 crucial States, sources said.
Apart from Bengal and Assam, all the BJP leaders including MLAs and LoP have also to look into the election affairs of 2 other States i.e Tamil Nadu, Kerala and also the UT of Pudducherry.
Reliable sources further informed that the exercise has begun in the J&K BJP to look out for the alternate leader who can perform the role of LoP in the absence of Sunil Sharma in the second half of the House proceedings.
