Jammu Tawi, Mar 16: Two persons were killed and around 20 others injured after a speeding passenger bus traveling from Jourian to Akhnoor collided with a Scorpio vehicle and overturned near Kot Garhi village in Akhnoor area of Jammu division on Monday.
Officals said that the accident occurred when the bus, reportedly moving at high speed, hit the Scorpio near Kot Garhi and lost control before overturning on the road.
Two persons- Smt Rajni w/o Joginder Lal R/o Pahriwala Khour and Vijay Kumar R/o Kolkatta a/p presently working at Jewellers shop Jourian died in the accident, while around 28 passengers’ sustained minor to serious injuries. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, officials said.
The Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha has condoled the loss of lives in a tragic bus accident at Kot Garhi in Akhnoor, today.
In a condolence message, the Lieutenant Governor has said: “Pained by the loss of precious lives in the tragic bus accident in Akhnoor. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief. Praying for a speedy recovery of the injured.”
