Srinagar, Feb 20: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has charge-sheeted four persons in a major overseas MBBS admission fraud, accusing them of cheating and criminal conspiracy after allegedly swindling lakhs from a Srinagar complainant on the pretext of securing his son’s admission in a Bangladesh medical college.
The chargesheet in FIR No. 20/2025 under Sections 420 and 120-B IPC was filed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, against Peerzada Aabid, Syed Wasim, Syed Suhail Aijaz and Zaigam Khan. Investigations found the accused, linked to Europe Consultancy Centre and Overseas Consultancy, induced the complainant to pay substantial fees purportedly for deposit with Park View Medical College in Bangladesh.
Probe revealed the accused collected lakhs but remitted only USD 8,000 (about ₹6.04 lakh at 2021 rates) to the college. Owing to non-payment of the balance, the student was subsequently expelled from the institution, the statement said.
Evidence including bank records, official communication from the medical college and witness statements substantiated allegations against all four accused, EOW said, adding the case has been proved and presented before the competent court for judicial adjudication. (KNC)
