NEW DELHI, Nov 13: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out raids at 10 locations across five states as part of its probe into an Al-Qaida Gujarat terror conspiracy case involving illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, officials said on Thursday.
Searches were conducted on Wednesday at premises linked to suspects and their associates in West Bengal, Tripura, Meghalaya, Haryana, and Gujarat, an NIA spokesperson said. Several digital devices and incriminating documents were seized and sent for forensic analysis.
The case, registered in 2023, pertains to four Bangladeshi nationals — Mohd. Sojibmiyan, Munna Khalid Ansari, Azarul Islam, and Abdul Latif — who allegedly infiltrated India using forged Indian identity documents.
According to the agency, the accused had links with the proscribed Al-Qaida network and were allegedly involved in fund collection and transfer to operatives in Bangladesh. They were also accused of radicalising and motivating Muslim youth to join extremist activities.
The NIA had earlier filed a charge sheet in the case on November 10, 2023, before a special court in Ahmedabad, officials added. (Agencies)
