New Delhi, Oct 29: The Indian and Chinese armies held a fresh round of high-level military talks aimed at maintaining peace and stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, the Chinese Defence Ministry said on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the 23rd round of Corps Commander-level talks took place on October 25 at the Moldo-Chushul border meeting point on the Indian side of the frontier. The discussions focused on the management of the western sector of the China-India boundary.
“The two sides engaged in active and in-depth communication on managing the western section of the China-India border,” the ministry’s readout said.
While New Delhi has not issued an official statement on the meeting, the Chinese side noted that both countries agreed to maintain communication and dialogue in line with the consensus reached between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping.
“They agreed to continue communication through military and diplomatic channels and jointly safeguard peace and tranquillity in the border areas,” the Chinese Defence Ministry said.
The talks come amid ongoing efforts to ease tensions and prevent escalation along the Ladakh frontier, where both sides have maintained heavy troop deployment since the 2020 standoff. (Agencies)
