Operation Sindoor 2.0 Will Be Deadlier, Says Western Army Commander Lt Gen Katiyar

Jammu, Oct 14 — Western Army commander Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar on Tuesday warned that Operation Sindoor 2.0 will be “deadlier” than earlier retaliatory action and said Pakistan, though lacking the capacity to fight a full-scale war with India, may again attempt Pahalgam‑type strikes.

Replying to reporters, Lt Gen Katiyar said India’s response “this time will be deadlier than the past” and stressed that the Army is fully prepared to deal with recurring threats. “The action we will take this time will be deadlier than the past. It would be more powerful… There is no doubt about it,” he said.

Katiyar accused Pakistan of pursuing a policy to “bleed India through a thousand cuts,” adding that Islamabad “does not have the capacity to fight a war” but resorts to mischief and limited attacks instead. He said India inflicted heavy damage on Pakistan in the earlier Operation Sindoor, destroying posts and air bases, but warned that Pakistan may attempt further provocations.

The commander emphasised the need for continued readiness and public support, particularly from veterans, to foil any future attempts. Speaking earlier to ex‑servicemen, he said Pakistan “will not desist from its designs” but the Indian Army is prepared to counter them and seeks backing from the people and veterans.

Katiyar’s remarks come amid heightened tensions along the border and follow previous cross‑border operations attributed to India in retaliation to incursions and attacks. (Agencies)
