Srinagar, Oct 4: The Economic Offences Wing (Crime Branch Kashmir) has filed a case over the circulation of a forged selection list purportedly issued under the National Health Mission (NHM) J&K, after a complaint by the State Nodal Officer.
The fake order, allegedly signed by the Mission Director, was titled “Provisional Selection List of Candidates for Different Posts (Kashmir Division) against Notification No. SHS/NHM/J&K/HR/10259 dated 10.05.2021” and went viral on social media, causing confusion among aspirants.
Investigations revealed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, an NGO—J&K Health Care Services—approved for voluntary manpower deployment, misused its approval. Members of the NGO allegedly lured volunteers with promises of permanent NHM jobs, collected money, and forged the Mission Director’s signature to create a fake list.
The accused have been identified as Abdul Qayoom Naik of Tangmarg Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom Khan of Budgam, Mohammad Ashraf Hurrah of Srinagar, and Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi and Hilal Ahmad Bahar of Bandipora.
According to the EOW, their actions prima facie constitute offences under Sections 420, 468, 471, 120-B of the RPC and Section 66-D of the IT Act. A formal case has been registered, and further investigations are underway.
