The statement given by Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi that drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) will have major role in future wars is true to the hilt but as far as rogue neighbour country Pakistan is concerned, it is using this technology seamlessly even during the peace time to dent the interests of India as every now and then, these flying objects originating from across the border enter Indian territory for continuing proxy war through various means and ways.
The latest in the series is the report about Pakistani drone being spotted hovering at an altitude of over 700 metres moving from west to east over a military garrison in the Bari Brahmana area around 9.35 pm on Friday. The security agencies including the police have launched a search operation to ensure that there was no airdropping of weapons or narcotics but the big question is how this flying object has reached so deep inside the Indian Territory.
In context with the army chief’s remark that drones will play a pivotal role in wars, what needs to be taken care of is the fact that the neighbouring country is using this technology even during the peacetime and working against the country. Going by such incidents of security breach by the Pakistani entities, it becomes necessary that before using these drones for enhancing war capabilities, India should first come up with a foolproof anti-drone shield to ensure that no flying object could enter the country’s airspace without facing strong retaliation.
This has become quite significant looking at frequent spotting of Pakistani drones inside the Indian territory and in cases, the recovery of both weapons and narcotics consignments dropped by these flying objects, which were supposed to picked by the people working for the enemies of the country to distribute among the terror-mongers and the members of the drug mafia. This modus operandi by the Pakistani mentors of terrorists present in India especially in J&K, has to be exposed and countered effectively or else the country will have to pay a big price for remaining complacent. The first and foremost requirement is stopping drones from entering the country through human vigilance as well as technological interventions making it impossible for any entity to cross over the border and be inside India to give shape to nefarious designs of Pakistan.
