    Manjha thread slits youth’s throat in Udhampur, Activists demand action against police

    Jammu Tawi, Aug 9: A 25-yr-old youth today died of throat slit due to kite flying thread (manjha) in Udhampur district.

    Police said that manjha thread hit the neck of a youth identified as Rajendra Kumar, 25, son of Subhash Chander, resident of Garhi, Udhampur while he was riding on a two-wheeler.

    He was immediately rushed to the hospital by some passers-by but declared as dead due to severe throat cut.

    Police have registered a case and started the investigation.

    Notably, Jammu and Kashmir administration has put blanket ban on sale of Chinese thread.

    The locals have expressed their deep resentment as to how the availability of such Manjha thread had not been checked by the local police authorities despite a blanket ban.

    The social activists who were are the hospital, demanded severe action against the police authorities of Udhampur City and district for dereliction of their duties.
