Jammu Tawi: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a case against a shopkeeper in R.S Pura for allegedly selling banned Chinese nylon thread, commonly known as Gattu or Chinese manja, officials said on Saturday.
A police team led by PSI Abid Bashir from Police Station R.S Pura raided the shop in the local market and seized nine rolls of the hazardous thread.
The accused has been identified as Raman Kumar, a resident of Ward No. 6, R.S Pura. Police stated that the synthetic thread is banned in Jammu district due to its dangerous nature and involvement in past injuries and fatalities, especially during kite flying.
An FIR has been registered under relevant legal provisions, and further investigation is in progress, the official added.
