Jammu Tawi: Traffic movement on the vital Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was restored today after a mudslide triggered by heavy rainfall caused a temporary closure near Ramban. In a separate incident, a labourer was dramatically rescued from the rising waters of the River Tawi in Jammu City.
Authorities said that the highway was closed early morning due to landslide debris blocking the road. “Men and machinery were immediately deployed, and traffic has now been restored,” police confirmed. Stranded vehicles are being cleared in a phased manner.
Meanwhile, in the Nowabad area of Jammu, a labourer working in the Tawi riverbed became trapped as water levels surged following rain in the upper reaches. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rushed to the spot and safely rescued the man using specialized equipment.
“The rescued individual is safe and in stable condition,” police added.
