Shiv Sena (UBT) demands end to ‘Dual Power’ system; restoration of J&K’s Statehood

Jammu, Jan 28 – The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Shiv Sena (UBT) has called for the end of the dual power system in the region, urging the central government to restore the state’s status and bring the police force under the control of the state government with proper accountability.

Addressing a gathering at the party’s state central office, party state chief Manish Sahni highlighted the impact of the current governance system on the Jammu division, which has been witnessing an increase in terrorist activity and rising crimes. Sahni pointed out that in 2024, terrorist attacks have occurred in 8 out of 10 districts of Jammu division, once considered peaceful. Additionally, incidents such as crime, drug trafficking, gang wars, and crime against women have been on the rise.

Sahni criticized the recent daylight shooting incident in Jammu city, where the accused managed to escape despite police efforts. He expressed concern over the lack of accountability, with police dismissing the incident as a common gang war, and noted that the Lieutenant Governor had refrained from commenting on the issue. He also raised concerns about the restrictions on questioning police and security matters in the legislative assembly.

The party leader urged the Modi government to end the rule of the Lieutenant Governor in Jammu and Kashmir, restore the state’s status, and bring the police force under the state government to ensure greater accountability and control.

During the program, several youth, inspired by the party’s policies, joined Shiv Sena (UBT), including Meenakshi Chibber, Vikas Bakshi, Bharat Mahajan, Balwant Singh, Rohan Malwal, Manjeet Singh, Amit Sharma, Saksham, Harsh Kumar, Aman Verma, Arpit Sharma, and Vishal Kumar.
