Kulgam: Three houses were completely destroyed in a massive overnight fire in Nagam village of Damhal Hajipora in Kulgam district, leaving four families homeless. The fire, which started in one house, quickly spread to two others, officials said on Wednesday.
According to reports, the fire also destroyed two cow sheds along with the three houses. Despite the prompt dispatch of fire tenders, the blaze was not brought under control before the houses were reduced to ashes.
A local resident, visibly distraught, shared his experience: “The flames took everything we had in minutes. In this cold, we are left with nothing but the hope of support from our government,” he said.
Authorities are now assessing the damage and are expected to provide assistance to the affected families.
