New Delhi, Dec 9: Around 40 prominent schools in Delhi received a bomb threat email early Monday morning, with the sender demanding USD 30,000. The threat prompted school authorities to suspend classes and send students home, while police and emergency teams initiated immediate responses.

The bomb threat was sent to several well-known schools, including DPS RK Puram, GD Goenka Paschim Vihar, The British School Chanakyapuri, The Mother’s International Aurobindo Marg, Modern School Mandi House, DPS Vasant Kunj, Delhi Police Public School Safdarjung, DPS East of Kailash, and Salwan Public Schools.

A Delhi Fire Service official confirmed receiving the first alerts from DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka Paschim Vihar. Bomb detection teams, fire officials, local police, and dog squads responded swiftly, conducting thorough searches at the schools. As of 9:30 am, no suspicious items had been found, but operations were ongoing, a police official stated.

The threat was sent on Sunday night at 11:38 pm from the email address [email protected] to the schools’ official email accounts. The message stated, “I planted multiple bombs inside the building. The bombs are small and hidden very well. It will not cause very much damage to the building, but many people will be injured when the bombs detonate.” The sender also demanded USD 30,000, threatening further harm if the money was not delivered.

In response to the threat, Mother Mary’s School in Mayur Vihar sent a message to parents, informing them about the bomb threat and advising them to collect their children from their respective bus stops.

This incident follows a similar scare in May when over 200 schools, hospitals, and government installations in the city received bomb threats, though the case remains unsolved, as the previous threats were sent using a Virtual Private Network.
