MUMBAI, Dec 5, 2024: BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the third time on Thursday evening. The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Azad Maidan ground, saw Fadnavis taking the oath alongside his two deputies, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. The event was attended by several high-profile dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers, state chief ministers, and thousands of supporters of the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance.

Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath to Fadnavis and his two deputies nearly two weeks after the results of the Maharashtra assembly elections were announced on November 23. Fadnavis, elected from Nagpur South West, led the BJP to a decisive victory, winning 132 out of 288 seats in the state assembly.

The BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP Mahayuti coalition holds a commanding majority with 230 seats, solidifying Fadnavis’s position as Chief Minister. According to BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar, the rest of the cabinet ministers are expected to take their oaths before the upcoming winter session of the state legislature.
