New Delhi, Dec 5: Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna administered the oath of office to Justice Manmohan, the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, as a judge of the Supreme Court during a ceremony on Thursday. With Justice Manmohan’s appointment, the working strength of the apex court has risen to 33, just one short of the sanctioned strength of 34 judges. The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his elevation to the top court on November 28, 2024.
Justice Manmohan succeeds his appointment after serving as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, a position he held prior to his elevation to the Supreme Court.
