Protection of Rohingyas: SHRC asks Police Chief to submit report

Srinagar, April 24, CNS: State Human Rights Commission has directed Director General Police Dr SP Vaid to file a detailed report with regard to protection of Rohingya Muslim families camping in different parts of region.

Chairman State Human Rights Commission Justice Bilal Nazki's directions came after a complaint filed by Chairman, Centre for Peace and Protection of Human Rights MM Shuja seeking protection to Rohingya Muslims in wake of threats from some leaders of political parties and trade bodies in Jammu.

Chairman SHRC after going through the complaint directed police chief to file a detailed report about the protection of Mynmar Muslims by May 30 next month.

The complainant in his petition has said that some political parties as well as trade body has publicly threatened Rohingya Muslim and in wake of such threats the general public is eager to know about measures taken by police to protect the lives and property of Rohingya refugees. (CNS)
