Jawan falls to death during CT Op in Poonch

    Poonch, Aug 20:  An Army jawan on Friday made a sacrifice in the line of duty when he had a fall into a deep gorge during a counter terrorist operation along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

    Jammu based defence spokesman, Lt Col Devender Anand here said that at around 1315 hours on Friday, while operating along the higher reaches of Pir Panjal Range in a deliberately planned counter terrorist operation, Sepoy Lovepreet Singh made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

    “The soldier suffered a 40-feet fall into a gorge while negotiating the difficult heights,” said the spokesman.

    He said that the valiant soldier was acting as guide to the party which was moving along a treacherous route from Jabbiwal to Bagsar, Poonch.

    Sepoy Lovepreet Singh, 23, belonged to Gurdaspur, Punjab.

    He is survived by his parents. Sepoy Lovepreet Singh was a brave, highly motivated and sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty, he said. (UNI)
