Tawi, June 15: Jammu and on Monday recorded 182 fresh COVID-19 cases including 79 CRPF personnel, taking the total number of persons infected by coronavirus in J&K to 5,223, officials said.

Among the 182 fresh cases, 79 are from various battalions of the CRPF posted in Kashmir, the officials said.

While 28 cases have surfaced in the Jammu region, 75 people who tested positive for the virus are residents of the valley, the officials said.

The cases detected on Monday included 28 persons who had returned to the Union Territory recently.

In Jammu division, 279 including 139 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Jammu district, 199 including 57 recoveries are from Ramban, 165 including 39 recoveries and 01 death is from Udhampur, 160 including 76 recoveries are from Kathua, 104 including 33 recoveries from Poonch, 105 including 39 recoveries are from Samba, 66 including one death and 12 recoveries are from Rajouri, 63 including 24 recoveries and 01 death are from Doda, 27 including 11 recoveries are from Reasi and 23,including 07 recoveries are from Kishtwar.

As per the daily information bulletin, 237,765 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 40,891 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 2432 persons are in hospital isolation while as 32 persons are under hospital quarantine.

According to the bulletin, 145,245 persons have completed surveillance period and 49,103 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 271,294 samples are available.

Out of 271,294 the number of samples tested negative stands at 266,196 while as 5098 have been tested positive, among them 2432 are active and 2604 persons have recovered and 62 persons have died.

Shopian district in Kashmir had the highest number of fresh cases, followed by Srinagar at 16, the officials said.

Four districts Anantnag, Doda, Rajouri and Poonch had no fresh cases. they said.

Of the total 5,223 cases, 4032 are in Kashmir, while 1191 are in the Jammu region, the officials said.

63 people have died due to COVID-19 in J-K so far, they said. The three fatalities have been reported from the Kashmir valley. With this, the death toll has reached 63 in J-K, they said.

An elderly man from Kashmir's Shopian district, who was tested positive for COVID-19 a few days back, died at CD hospital on Monday, officials said.

Dr Saleem Tak, Medical Superintendent at CD hospital told that 80-year-old man who was admitted at the hospital on June 13, died on Monday evening.

He said the patient was suffering from Diabetes, Hypertension and other underlying problems including COPD.

With his death, the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir due to COVID has reached three in a day while a total of 63 patients including seven from Jammu division and 56 from Kashmir division have died since the outbreak of virus in the Union Territory
