DEHRADUN, June 13: President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday reviewed the 158th Passing Out Parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, where the Indian Army inducted 481 young officers following the successful completion of their military training.
A total of 515 Gentleman and Women Cadets crossed the historic “Antim Pag” and were commissioned as Army officers. Among them were 34 cadets from friendly foreign countries who will join the armed forces of their respective nations.
The parade marked a historic milestone as nine women cadets passed out alongside Gentleman Cadets from the Academy for the first time.
Addressing the newly commissioned officers, President Murmu described the IMA as a symbol of honour, courage and service to the nation. She termed the passing out of women cadets a significant chapter in the Academy’s history and an inspiring step towards women-led development in the country.
The President urged the officer cadets to remain lifelong learners, take courageous decisions and exhibit ethical leadership while confronting evolving security challenges.
The ceremony showcased the cadets’ discipline, dedication and military spirit as they marched with precision during the parade.
Officer Cadet Vishal Kumar was awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour for overall excellence during training. He also topped the Order of Merit and received the Gold Medal. Prince Raj secured second position, while Tejas Bhatt stood third and received the Bronze Medal. (Agencies)
