2 terrorists, 3 associates arrested in Valley

    Baramulla, Nov 08: Srinagar, Nov 08: Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday said that two active terrorists in of Kashmir.

    “Police in a series of operations have arrested two categorized active militants of LeT (TRF) in Kashmir and also busted a module in Baramulla by arresting three militant associates. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession,” a police spokesman said .

    Acting on specific information about the presence of militants, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, 53RR and 183Bn CRPF in the orchards of village Mirgund, Rohmu area of Pulwama.

    During the search, movement of a militant hiding in apple orchards was noticed who tried to escape but was apprehended tactfully by the joint parties exercising maximum restraint.

    He was identified as Sarwir Ahmad Mir resident of Bathen, Khrew and linked with LeT (TRF). Incriminating materials including two grenades were recovered from his possession, police said.

    Meanwhile, acting on specific information Anantnag Police and 3RR launched a cordon and search operation at Wadhan Sirgufwara area of Anantnag.

    During the search operation, one categorized militant identified as Hafiz Abdullah Malik resident of Ganjipora Mirbazar linked with LeT (TRF) was arrested.

    Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including  01 AK-56 rifle, 02 AK-56 magazines, 40 AK live rounds, 01 Chinese Pistol, 01 Pistol Magazine, 07 live pistol rounds and 01 pouch were recovered from his possession, police said.

    In Baramulla, during the course of investigation of case FIR number 232/2021 pertaining to attack by militants on Area Domination Patrol party (ADP) of Police & 46RR in last week of October 2021 in Cherdari area of Baramulla in which one militant was killed in retaliation, Baramulla Police zeroed in on some suspects.

    During the course of further investigation, a joint team of Police and security forces arrested 01 hybrid militant and 02 militant associates identified as Asgar Majeed Lone son of Ab Majeed resident of Gulshanabad Azadgunj, Asif Ganie son of Gh Rasool resident of Bagh-e-Islam Baramulla & Faizan Rasool Gojri son of Gh Rasool resident of Syeed Kareem Baramulla.

    On the disclosures of the arrested militant associates, especially those of Asgar Majeed, joint party of police and security forces recovered one grenade and 24 rounds of AK-47. Further investigation is in progress.

    IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar congratulated the joint team of police and security forces for showing utmost patience and exhibiting professionalism, which resulted in saving two lives.

    He reiterated that Police is committed to provide opportunity to misguided youth to shun the path of violence and return to mainstream.

    Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have arrested three militant associates involved in the attack on the ADP of police and army in the last week of October this year during which a militant was killed.

    Notably, militants on October 28 last month fired upon the ADP of joint forces at Cheradari area of Baramulla district while in retaliation a militant was killed. A case under relevant sections was registered by the police.

    In a statement, the police spokesperson said that during the course of investigation of case FIR No.232/21 u/s 307 IPC 7/27 A Act into the encounter post-attack on ADP in the last week of October. “Baramulla police zeroed in on some suspects which came to fore during the investigation.”

    The spokesperson said that on Monday a joint party of forces arrested three militant associates.

    He identified the apprehended associates as Asgar Majeed Lone s/o Ab Majeed r/o Gulshanabad Azadgunj, Asif Ganie s/o Gh. Rasool r/o Bagh e Islam Baramulla and  Faizan Rasool Gojri s/o Gh Rasool r/o Syeed Kareem Baramulla.

    “Based on disclosures of the associates, especially those of Asgar Majeed, the joint forces party recovered one grenade and 24 rounds of AK-47”, the spokesman said.

    He also said that further investigations in this regard are underway.

    It may be recalled that police in a tweet had informed that the killed militant is of hybrid type, identified as Javed Ahmad Wani of Kulgam district. He has assisted militant Gulzar (who was killed on 20th October) in killing of two labourers from Bihar in Wanpoh.

    “He was on mission to target one shopkeeper in Baramulla,” the tweet said.
