2 men drown in Chenab at Ramban, search ops on

Ramban, 22 Jan: 

Ramban police station on Friday received information about the drowning of two people in the Chenab river near Mehar.

According to the police, Sumit Singh a resident of Maqboolpura, Metha Road, Amritsar, informed that his father namely Manjeet Singh, 50, and his maternal uncle Jitander Singh, 28, both drowned in the Chenab river near Mehar.

Police parties reached on the incident spot and a search/rescue operation was launched by police teams of PS Ramban, J&K UTDRF teams Ramban and Civil QRT Ramban in the low-lying areas of Mehar, Kowbagh and Seri, the official said.

The statement said that the search continued till last light and restarted with the first light of today and still continues.
