125 corruption complaints gathering dust at Agri Directorate

Srinagar, Dec 01 (KNS): The Chairman Vigilance Commission Kuldeep Khoda has said that he would ascertain all about 125 corruption cases referred by the Vigilance Organisation Kashmir (VOK) to the Directorate of Kashmir which is reported to have not acted promptly to conclude the investigation.

Khoda when asked that as to why the Directorate of Agriculture has been quietly sitting over 56 corruption complaints referred from 2009-2013 and 69 similar complaints referred from 2014-2016 to it by the Vigilance Organisation Kashmir (VOK) and the administrative department told KNS “ I will look into the matter. I will ascertain the facts. The review of the vigilance cases of the agriculture production department was to be discussed at a meeting at the Vigilance Commission on Wednesday this week but due to engagement of officers with the preparatory meetings the meeting called by the vigilance commission had to be deferred for some days”.

When asked as to why the agriculture directorate of Kashmir as part of its misinformation campaign in factually incorrect reports is telling the vigilance commission that the reports are under process at the directorate level while most of those against whom the corruption complaints are pending disposal have retired the Chairman Vigilance Commission said “I will ascertain and look into the whole issue. I will try to find out that what has gone wrong with the conduct of the departmental inquiries”.

Though KNS repeatedly called Special Secretary Agriculture Ms Leena Padha over phone but her office told KNS that the officer is not available for comment due to her engagement in a meeting with the Minister for Agriculture. (KNS)
