Tawi, May 17:  On the debris of the PDP and BJP, who are fast losing
peoples' support in and Jammu respectively after they forged an alliance to form the government. The Congress seems to have gained the ground which it had lost in
2014 election. In fact people, two years ago had believed that the
Congress was a finished organization both in the Kashmir valley and
in the region of Jammu.

People had come to believe that while the BJP's stars shine in
Jammu that of the PDP has gained its ground in the valley, but during
the last over two years the situation stands reversed. While the vote bank of PDP in Kashmir valley has suffered erosion that of the BJP in the region of Jammu has witnessed total emaciation.

And the Congress is bound to gain partly in the valley and its image may be
revived in the region of Jammu where it had been threatened by the
BJP.

PDP has been losing its ground gradually with every passing day due to the continuous violent protests and killings of many protesting youth culminating into a hateful atmosphere against the Mehbooba Mufti and her party. The Conference availed the opportunity to its fullest extent by exploiting the situation and infusing a sense of insecurity among Kashmiri youth.

In Jammu region, the people felt betrayed of their trust reposed in the Prime Minister as the faceless party leadership miserably failed to infuse a sense of confidence among them by playing second fiddle to the PDP's hegemony in state administration and its policies.

Further factionalism has marred the party's prospectus as every local BJP leader beats his own drum and engaged in leg pulling. Despite recent visit of BJP's National President Mr. Amit Shah and frequent visits of Mr. Ram Madhav, the party has failed to establish a connect with the people at grassroot level.

A senior Congress leader has uttered that both BJP and PDP have made ground smooth for the Congress to nail them in next election as the people have been disillusioned from both the parties.

And the Congress party has started a membership drive in the 10
districts of the valley which would be followed by a similar exercise
in the regions of Jammu and . Congress while reviewing ongoing
membership drive took stock of overall drive in ten district of the
valley.

Party has expressed satisfaction over the “successful membership drive
“and exhorted the Party cadre to gear up for organization elections
from unit level (booth level).
In a review meeting of senior leaders and office bearers held at
Srinagar Headquarter, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC)
president G A Mir  took stock of the ongoing membership drive in ten
districts of the Valley and apprised the meeting of total number of
newly enrolled primary members which, they said has reached 3.5 lakh,
so far.
The leaders, discussed the organizational elections to be held in the
all the three regions of the State. The leaders also praised the Party
cadre for successful drive.
On this occasion, the congress leadership expressed satisfaction over
the “successful membership drive” and congratulated JKPCC president G
A Mir and other leaders for their dedication and hard work.

“Congress Party in first phase is going to hold organizational elections at Unit Level (Booth level), in second phase the Party is going to hold Block Level elections, in
third phase organizational elections at district will be held.” The State Level elections will be held fourth phase, he said.
