Pattan, Jan 28 (KNO): Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a local militant in Andergam area of Pattan in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
Talking to reporters SSP Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom said that they apprehended a militant namely Sajad Dar alias Adnan of Madwan Hajin from Andergam Pattan during a joint naka by army and police.
He said that he had joined the militant ranks two-three days ago and he had come to meet his associate in Andergam Pattan where he was apprehended by the forces.
“During preliminary investigations Adnan revealed that he was going to meet one of his local friends in Andergam who was also going to join the militant ranks. But he could not meet as forces arrested him during a joint naka,” he said.
He said that they have also recovered a grenade from his possession. He said that he had a militant friend Saqib Bilal who was killed in an encounter in December 2018 in Mujgund area.
“After his funeral he was got influenced to join the militant ranks. He is of a tender age and has last year passed 12th class exams. So he got influenced easily to join the militant ranks,” SSP said.
He said that Adnan got influenced after seeing hundreds of people participating in his friend's funeral and somehow he wanted to join the militant ranks. “Ultimately some days ago he had joined the militant ranks. He was not involved in any big attack as he is a few days old militant,” he said. The SSP also appealed the parents to take care of their children and prevent them from going astray.
An official said that he has been booked under FIR no. 21/2020 under section 7/25 ULA act in Police station Pattan. (KNO)
